Jo Norton, and her husband Alan, have been leading the Wandsworth (Salvation Army) Boiler Room community since it launched in November 2004. This small community have wreaked beautiful havoc for the kingdom of Heaven in their part of London, England ever since. They have poured themselves into loving homeless people and prostitutes, spearheading prayer and intercession, counselling and caring for the most desperate and broken people... Fearless and tireless, they've been an example to the wider 24-7 Prayer family in so many ways.
Last month Jo was rushed to
hospital after suffering a shock aneurysm and under went four weeks of treatment drenched in a lot of prayer. Sadly, “The Lord saw fit to take His beautiful daughter Jo Norton into His arms on the 27th June,” writes her husband Alan. “He is good and His love endures forever.”
Lyndall Bywater, 24-7 activist and close friend of Jo writes, “For those of us Jo has temporarily left behind, the loss is terrible. To us, she just wasn’t meant to go yet! She was such a large part of so many things – such an influence … such a powerhouse of encouragement and vision. She leaves huge gaps all over the place.”
We are desperately sad, and yet we want to join with Alan, their children, and with the wider Wandsworth Boiler Room community in thanking our Father in Heaven for Jo... who is now with the Lord of all Life, Jesus.
If you knew Jo, we'd recommend that you click across to Lyndall Bywater's blog and read her post, simply entitled 'Jo' and please continue to pray for her family.

Phil Togwell lives in a large community house in Romford (UK) with his family (three daughters - Megan, Poppy and Angel, and one wife - Emma) and various visitors and pilgrims... exploring and experimenting with rhythms of prayer, mission, hospitality, life together. Phil is learning to cook, slowly. He likes curries, mountains, lengthy late-night conversations and reading books. He dislikes cats. Phil leads the Prayer Spaces in Schools team.
