Radically Redefine Yourself

"Define yourself radically as one beloved of God. God's love of you and his choice of you constitute your worth. Accept that, and let it become the most important thing in your life." Eagan, pp. 150-151

Autumn"There they were, untouched, unmodernized and unscathed by technology or industry. Just radiant, natural, stunning in overwhelming brilliance." Writes Autumn Bradley, USA. "Perhaps it was the whole scene, the deep saturation of the green field and surrounding hillside in contrast with the pure white of their feathers and soft gracefulness. But, it was as though God parted the heavens and displayed beauty in overwhelming quantity.

It was a typical morning on the train from Haywards Heath to Chichester. I was sitting across from several businessmen who were either reading the paper, listening to their mp3 player or sleeping. Students poured in at each stop enroute to college, and I sat half asleep myself watching the daily business of life pass me by. And that’s when I saw them, a small group of swans resting in the middle of this large field.

It was the first time I had spotted swans in the wild, and not in a park being fed by kids with bread. They were providing for themselves off God’s natural provision. And that is what struck me as beautiful about it. They almost seemed TOO beautiful to be out there like that. Exposed, in the open. But they weren’t afraid, and didn’t seem to take notice of the massive train roaring past. They weren’t rough around the edges like other wild animals, and yet they were massive, strong and unforgettable.

“The Lord is like a sun and shield; the Lord gives us kindness and honour. He does not hold anything good back from those whose lives are innocent.” Psalm 85:11

Images_39That was the word running around in my head as I saw God’s creation. I am innocent because of Jesus. I am loved because I am simply God’s child. If He looks after animals such as swans, how much more does He care for me, created in His image.

With this revelation I want to pursue God with everything I have. I want to be as confident of God's provision as those swans were that they could find rest and food in the field. I want to be defined by God's view."

“I stand anchored now in God before whom I stand naked, this God who tells me "You are my son/daughter, my beloved one." Eagan, pp. 150-15
